A gap fixed at nine takes a term. The same gap fixed at fifteen takes a year — and sits underneath everything else the student is trying to learn.

Almost every serious problem we see in high school traces back to something small left unresolved in Years 3 to 6: times tables never automated, fractions never really understood, comprehension guessed at rather than taught.

So we diagnose before we teach. A student struggling with Year 5 maths is rarely struggling with Year 5 content — they are usually missing something from Year 3 that the current work assumes. We find the actual gap, close it, then return to grade level. Skipping that step is why generic worksheet tutoring so often changes nothing.

Teaching what each question type wants — literal, inferential, evaluative — so a fluent reader stops losing marks on questions they could answer.

How it's assessed

Primary students sit NAPLAN in Years 3 and 5, and Year 4 students aiming at an Opportunity Class sit the OC Placement Test for Year 5 entry. School reports come each semester against NSW syllabus outcomes, so we work to those outcomes rather than a generic year level.
